Our first passenger Ship sales took place back in 1965 just as Masters' Shipping co. was being established by its late founder Capt. John Kindinis.

Not sure exactly which one was the very first ship as the company was trying to cope with a dramatically growing demand both for Ferries and pure Cruise ships almost at the same time.

In all likeliness it must have been one of Epirotiki Lines' first or maybe a buy on the part of the Anek Lines which was trying to urgently fill the gap that the tragic loss of the 'Herakleion' had left on the regular line Piraeus-Kriti island.

With the help of Epirotiki's Andreas Potamianos, Masters' Shipping became the one and only broking company to exclusively specialise in the S+P (and Chartering, for that matter) of both Cruise ships and Ferries in the whole world as Piraeus was swiftly becoming a Shipping center tailwinding the company's expansion by spreading its wings to every passenger ship hub in the world.

The domestic Ferry industry was originally based on the upgrading of second (or third) hand units bought from North European owners while a number of them were the product of a conversion of old Tankers by the then fledgling local Shipbuilding industry.

Along the way Masters' Shipping brokered the sale of countless passenger ships on the second-hand market with some units having been sold two or three or even four times over to different buyers.

AN UNPRECEDENTED RECORD.
   

Milestone Deals Brokered

• The building of the Ropax mv Nissos Mykonos and her sistership the Nissos Chios at Skaramanagas Yards which had been in deep hibernation since the early 80’s. The order was placed by the then starring Strintzis Line in 1998.

These two masterpieces were built to Delta Marine design and project management. Unfortunately, the works had to stop abruptly halfway through due to the yard's bankruptcy. Nevertheless, both were completed some 8 years later - always in Greece - by Blue Star Ferries which, under Perikles Panagopoulos' ownership already, saw them both becoming the Jewels of the Greek Coastal Ferry industry by the year 2007.

Masters' Shipping co. can boast for having conceived the whole idea in the first place and was consequently extensively involved in its implementation.

Never before had such quality and modern design and amenities fitted Ropax Ferries been built in Greece.

•  The sale of the unfinished Hull of what was to become Anek Lines' mv El Venizelos. The said Hull was towed to Greece where she was turned in local yards to the biggest and most luxurious Super Ferry in the whole Mediterranean Sea area (the biggest Passenger Ship New Building Project in Greece by that time).

• Another breakthrough deal brokered by Masters' was the sale of Minoan Line's mv Ariadne Palace to Moby Lines at a staggering price of about euro 95 mil cash breaking every known record for the sale of a second-hand ship at the time.

• The sale of almost the whole fleets of Epirotiki (to and for it), of Louis Cruise Lines as well as of the High Speed Fleet of Seajets which from a humble begining has now become one of the biggest operators in the world.

• The enbloc sale of three Cruise Ships, namely, the Apollon, the Stella Solaris and Stella Oceanis in one go.

• The contracting of the - technically most successful - passengers-only Catamaran Newbuilding sisters for Strintzis Lines from Scandinavian Yards. The said sisters blazed a trail for the whole Greek coastal Ferry market to follow.

•  Last but certainly not least is the recent sale of four 90’s and 2000-built units enbloc from the Carnival group, namely, the mv Oceana, mv Veendam, mv Maasdam and the Pacific Aria to our comany's long-time close owner-friends the Iliopoulos family.
